Parents,
A lot has happened since Cliff and Sharleen sent the last newsletter and announced they were stepping down as presidents. We wanted to introduce ourselves as your new presidents and update you on what’s happening. We accepted the position just as the Mannings were on their way out of town and have spent the past few weeks getting up to speed and making the transition to our new role. For those of you we have not met, we live in The Woodlands and have a Plebe in D2 Company (Go Dragons!) named Sebastian. Neither of us are “old grads”, so not only are we new to this role but still relatively new to the Academy. However we are excited about all of this and the year ahead and are proud to be part of this organization. This is a special group of young men and women and all of us as parents have played a role in that. We look forward to getting to know you. Feel free to reach out to one of us if you have questions, comments, or concerns, or even if you just want to talk.
Fortunately, our Club has an excellent group of officers and committee chairs who have eased this transition and kept things on track to have a very successful year. We wanted to acknowledge them and have included a list of the officers, chairs, and class reps at the end of this email.
A Save The Date communication will be sent out separately with details for our key upcoming events (Hail and Farewell, Graduation Lunch, New Cadet Picnic, and Texas Tamale Tailgate). Note we are buying a block of tickets for the T3 game so you can purchase tickets through WPPCGH. See the Save The Date email with contact info for that session. As always there are a number of volunteer opportunities to help put on these events. Reach out to anyone on the board or the chair for the event if you can help!
A key focus right now is onboarding our new cadets and their families, which is in progress as this is written. Welcome to the class of 2027 and their parents! A lot of work is already done pairing the new families with mentor families. Hail and Farewell is a great opportunity to welcome the new class.
For those who are not new, we hope you got to enjoy time with your cadet(s) over spring break as we did. At this point most if not all the Cadets are looking ahead to a summer filled with IADS, MIADS, PIADS, CFT or a new post for those graduating. Congratulations and good luck to the Class of 2023 as they assume leadership roles across the Army!
Finally there will be a WPPCGH general meeting in April. We will send out an invite soon and hope to see you there!
Go Army Beat Navy!
